July Political Limericks

Writing Limericks: A How-To and a History | The Saturday Evening Post

Fox Newsers may cause the demise
Of their viewers with anti-vax cries.
“It’s my body,” they whine.
“It’s my choice!” Yet they’re fine
With abortion rights cut down to size.

Boorish Trump’s seeking vengeance on tour.
His goal? Instill fear and ensure
That the pols who defied him
And dare to deride him
Are shunned, cast aside like manure.

New York’s contest for mayor’s been thrown
Into chaos; its tally’s been blown
By The Board of Elections,
Whose ballot corrections
Will be tainted — the truth deemed unknown.

If you fly the American flag,
Many think you’re a Trumpster. I gag
At this terrible blunder,
Then ponder and wonder:
How’d our flag get a GOP tag?

Manchin’s quest is for something that’s rare:
10 Republicans, decent and fair.
While I wish Manchin luck
And admire his pluck,
He’ll be stuck in the muck of despair.

  1. Fantastic! These limericks are so clever and well crafted. You express these thoughts more creatively than I do, but I sure do agree with your take on things. 🙂
