He Is Mine

***

His head on my shoulder
I feel his breath on my neck
A quick kiss, then a deep sigh
Letting me know that he is happy

I smile and lay still, eyes open
Enjoying the moment, like every morning
Wondering how he managed again
To smuggle himself into my bed

Oh the joys of a dog owner
Being loved so much
Or is it a power struggle?
Is he claiming my bed?

Who cares?
It’s our ritual
Our special moment
I am his and he is mine

***

Vader eight months.

  1. I love this! When we started letting Marley on the spare bed, he was so happy. I’d just like him to not jump right in the middle. He’s learning to share. There’s no love like dog love. Enjoy!
