You would think the whole Government is closed during a Government shutdown but sadly, that’s not the case. Of course, politicians still receive their pay, while some of the real public servants go home without a paycheck-at least for the moment. I made an unbelievable discovery this week, and ever since I am in peace. I felt a dramatic shift in me and in the blink of an eye, the balance in me was restored.

“As a white man,” Joe begins, prefacing an insight, revelation, objection or confirmation he’s eager to share — but let’s stop him right there. Aside from the fact that he’s white, and a man, what’s his point? What does it signify when people use this now ubiquitous formula (“As a such-and-such, I …”) to affix an identity to an observation?

Yesterday in the morning, I opened my eyes and felt joy. Spring is near, the room wasn’t dark anymore -the sun was raising, and so was I. Today in the morning at the same time it was dark again. We had turned the clocks forward last night, back to daylight-saving time. Continue reading
