He is a handsome, young man with a few health issues that can be controlled, but smoking works against him. I can only imagine how much harder it must be to stop against your will. Books, videos and pamphlets are available for free, to everybody who is serious about quitting. An older, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard.

I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of.

He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head; he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep. An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out. Continue reading

Ole and Lena went to the same Lutheran Church. Lena went every Sunday and taught Sunday School. Ole went on Christmas and Easter, and maybe a few times during the year.

Hawaii – First state to raise smoking age to 21?


Lawmakers passed the final reading and Senate Bill 1030 is now on the Governors desk. This bill would make it illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to sell, possess, consume or purchase tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes and other smoking devices. Hawaii would be the first state to take this drastic step and the law would take effect on January 1st of 2016. Continue reading
