When people ask me, “Where are you from?” their reaction to my answer is always the same. “Aaaaaaaaaahhh,” and then they list the names of famous people from Austria. 90% of the time it’s, Hitler and Schwarzenegger.Continue reading
I made an unbelievable discovery this week, and ever since I am in peace. I felt a dramatic shift in me and in the blink of an eye, the balance in me was restored.
Like so many of us, I watched the funeral of former President Georg H. W. Bush. Not in full lengths -one has to work to make a living- but I listened to it during my work and looked up at the TV screen when I wanted to. Continue reading
To see ordinary people and celebrities using their voice to cope with our troubled times, gives me so much hope for the future. I feel I belong, I feel I am one of them -even so, my voice is more of a whisper in the blogging world. Continue reading
Great quote! I thought it might be a good reminder, at a time, when the free press is being attacked over and over again. As a matter of fact, I want to thank all the brave women and men who -with their pencils and keyboards- try to shed some light on some things that are hidden in the dark. Continue reading
To understand the world, you have to UNDERSTAND the world.
After yesterdays meeting between Putin and Trump, I couldn’t help but wonder what the world is thinking. We here in the U.S. don’t hear much about the rest of the world. Most of our news outlets have shifted their focus to American politics only, interrupted only by mass shootings and global catastrophes. Continue reading
I will not pretend that I understand it all. I am not a politician; I make an honest living like so many of us. I read the news, sadly lots of it doesn’t make any sense. Maybe I am not smart enough to see the bigger picture or perhaps too smart to be fooled easily. Continue reading
One year of Trump, what is left to say, that hasn’t been said or written on my blog and so many others. One year later I am still upset and in shock about Trump and his supporters, nothing has changed. My willingness to accept him and all the backward changes he and his rich friends are making, is still zero. Continue reading
Oprah Winfrey gave a well-written acceptance speech at the Golden Globe, and the next day some people speculated she might run for President in 2020.
Are you fricking kidding me? There goes one of my New Years resolutions. What is wrong with this nation? She is a talk show host, an actress, a business woman. She is as much a politician as the current reality TV star, who occupies the White House right now.
Our obsession with celebrities is frightening. HELP ME Stephen!
Goodness what is next?
A very thought-provoking post from a blogger who I just found (or did he find me?) A post that is not just well written but also gave me a whirlwind of emotions. Judge for yourself, please!
December 29, 2017
How is it possible to sum up a year like the 2017, the first year of the unimaginable Trump presidency, when alternative facts became accepted reality and actual facts were branded “fake news”? It’s been hard to believe any of it has been real. Americans seem to either embrace this pathological liar as their perfect savior (quite literally, there is nothing this man could do to lose their support) or are just too tired to fact-check him anymore to care. It started to feel like America’s greatness was fading in the rearview mirror, replaced by a kleptocratic idiocracy, populated by a mindless flock who would make George Orwell slit his goddamn wrists. The war on the truth was gleefully embraced by his cult-like followers and it felt like the slippery slope to fascism just had truckload after truckload of lube dumped on it. Then a fellow sexual…
