My March was eventful. It gave me a few surprises, many laughs, a couple of wonderful movie nights, and a few tears. There was success and confusion. I made a mistake that should have never happened and my pride got a damper. On the other hand – because there is always a silver lining – I am proud of how I reacted.

Thanksgiving – It was Different This Year

Twelve years ago, in 2010 -the first Thanksgiving after a couple of months of being houseless/homeless- was the last time I added grocery prices up the way I did this year. For whatever reason, this year I felt the same mix of emotions as I did back then.

My Death Wish

Recent events brought to my attention that I might not live to be a hundred as I planned. I mean don’t get me wrong, nothing has changed, I still plan on sitting on the porch of an assisted living home –high up in my 90’s. I will be listening to “Uprising” by Muse -just to wake them all up-and my husband will be right by my side, sipping his watered-down beer through a straw. A senior dog we haven’t met yet will be resting at our feet.

I Love The Broken Ones…Too

Rust and a wilted rose strike me as a perfect composition.

The more pictures I take, the more am I surprised by my taste. Is it even a taste if you like things that are broken, or does it mirror my character, because in real life I fight frantically for the underdog, the broken ones, the forgotten, the minorities, the overlooked, the misjudged.

The Boredom in Retirement

About 5 am you can hear John shoveling his driveway. He has been waiting for the first decent snowfall, this is his favorite time of the year. He is a two-time veteran -army and navy- and if he could have done it, he would have enlisted a third time but he was too old to do so.

Oh, Summertime

It was my first summer in many years without neighbor kids in my workshop. Bravely, I had decided teens and teenagers are the parent’s problem -not mine- and I have closed my free vacation daycare, until further notice.

Times have Changed

As so often, an unwanted ad popped up, right beside my news article. IF  YOU WERE BORN BEFORE 1967 it read and I couldn’t help but look into it. I was thrown into this world in 1963 and with astonishment, I looked at the ladies face which crowned the advertisement.

I have neglected my blog and my blogging friends. I didn’t write much and read even less. I have been busy; tried to juggle too many things all at once, bit off more than I could chew. Whenever life demands my full attention, the virtual world has to be put on hold.
