Happy Thanksgiving

“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” ~ John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Most of us will celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow surrounded by family and friends. We will talk and laugh, we will watch a football game and will complain that we ate too much.

Thanksgiving is about giving thanks; giving thanks to a great harvest and a good year. Giving thanks for family and friends.

It’s easy to be thankful for the good things, but how about the things we don’t like too much. A life of rich fulfillment comes to those who are also thankful for the setbacks. Gratitude can turn a negative into a positive, attitude is everything.

It is hard to be thankful in moments of trouble, it hard to see the good when we are so worried and feel so down.

  • Be thankful that you don’t already have everything you desire. If you did, what would there be to look forward to?
  • Be thankful when you don’t know something, for it gives you the opportunity to learn.
  • Be thankful for the difficult times. During those times you grow.
  • Be thankful for your limitations, because they give you opportunities for improvement.
  • Be thankful for each new challenge, because it will build your strength and character.
  • Be thankful for your mistakes. They will teach you valuable lessons.
  • Be thankful when you’re tired and weary, because it means you’ve made a difference.
  • Be thankful for your heating bill, because it means you won’t be freezing.
  • Be thankful for a full laundry basket, because it means you and your family have clothes to wear.
  • Be thankful for the dishes in the sink, because it means you had food to eat.

Happy Thanksgiving

  2. Lovely words. We have a little tradition we do at table before eating. Everyone gets three kernels of unpopped corn and we basket a tiny basket around the table. One by one the person puts a kernel in and says something they’re thankful for. We just call it the Thanksgiving Basket.
